Elon Musk is one of the most famous people in the world, with a truly amazing life full of passion and creativity. He comes up with completely original and innovative ideas and implements them. A brilliant mind, who lives a full life, thinks out of the box and implements projects that are pioneer for humanity. He could have retired when he sold PayPal and yet he goes on and realizes projects he wants. What is the secret? How did he succeed and continue to succeed? Without knowing him personally, we know he definitely has a helpful mindset and a unique way he works with his mind & deals with situations.

One of the basic principles of NLP is that if someone has achieved something, it means that it can be done and can be repeated. Apart from that, if we want to learn things from someone and become more like him/her, we model, that is, we observe and copy some parts of the way he does what he does. These pieces can be his mindset, his reactions, his strategy, his physiology and his beliefs.

A helpful mindset

So, what can I learn from Elon Musk? What can I copy from him or anyone I want? Let’s learn from his mentality and adopt it in our own daily life. 5 key points:

It’s all in my head. The event is not something that has happened and that’s the end of it. Elon Musk didn’t just have successes, but he saw them in a light of his own that ultimately helped him. Every event becomes a part of me depending on the way I deal with it, the way I see it and store it inside me. I don’t treat a “failure” at something as a “failure” in general. I create the mindset I want and take the opportunity to learn from this “failure”.
I am responsible for myself. Elon Musk understands that he has responsibility for himself and responsibility for his mind. Elon Musk decided to change the world and decided that he will take responsibility for what he can leave behind on him. I can cultivate the notion in myself that I am to blame for what happens to me, so I can therefore take charge of what happens to me. My own reality is not other people’s fault, I have my own responsibility and my responsibility is to live a great life. If others are to blame, there will never a good time to do anything. I decide for me and the right time is now.
Eyes on the target. Elon Musk’s gaze is directed towards his target and he is solely concerned with it. He sees where he wants to go. He doesn’t focus on the past, he looks towards where he wants to be. He has activated his subconscious mind which guides him to his next goal and he is purposefully working towards that goal and that goal only.
I will succeed. Elon Musk believes in his powers, he does not limit himself. He may have been born with some skills (like all of us have anyway), but he is improving them and constantly learning new things. One of the core principles of NLP is that we have all the potential, skills and tools within us to achieve anything we want. And what we don’t have yet, we can learn. And those skills that have been sidelined or are no longer as active, we can highlight and improve on.
I talk to myself nicely. Elon Musk talks to himself the way he wants to be talked to, he doesn’t beat himself up. The way we talk to ourselves is the way we live our lives, it creates our reality. Tell yourself that you are strong, that you will succeed, that you have the strength, confidence, creativity and resilience to achieve anything you set your mind to. These words have power and create the environment your brain lives in. Pro tip: do the same for those around you, say nice things about them and watch them flourish.
